Cloverdale Paint GT1085 is a black butyl glazing tape: a 100% solids preformed sealant made from polyisobutylene and a cross-linked butyl blend. Use it as the exterior primary spacing and glazing seal when setting glass into wood, vinyl and aluminum sash, or to seal non-structural metal-to-metal joints. The tape stays permanently tacky and does not harden, skin over or shrink, so it holds a flexible weather seal between similar or dissimilar surfaces through normal expansion, contraction and wind load. It is formulated to pass AAMA 807.3, the glazing tape specification for architectural aluminum. It comes on release paper rolls, sold by the box in a 3/8" width and two thicknesses. Often called butyl tape, preformed glazing tape or glazing sealant tape.
